Carolyn’s decision to help people struggling to build families came from her own experience with infertility.  Her family was created through fertility treatment and adoption.  She has spoken and written widely on both adoption and infertility.

Biography

Hilary Marshak earned an MSW from NYU’s Graduate School of Social Work, and has been in private practice since 1992. For more than 15 years she has worked in the area of infertility counselin,g as well as administering clinical evaluations for potential egg donors and recipients.

As a natural outgrowth of this work, she founded MyDonor.net, a New York egg donor matching agency. This agency is licensed by the NYS DOH and abides by all FDA and SART guidelines. Hilary is a member of ASRM and NASW. She has received certification in Cultural Diversity/Psychotherapy, and Treatment of PTSD/S. Hilary also participates in the NYC Medical Reserve Corps. Insurance panels include MHN, Aetna and ComPsych, both EAP and ongoing treatment.

Biography

Jill Edelstein LCSW is a trauma psychotherapist who specializes in fertility and adoption related concerns. She works with infertility grief and pregnancy loss (past or present), supports people in exploring adoption as a pathway to parenthood, and assists adopted people and their families in wrestling with the complexities of adoption.

This could include cultural issues, search and reunion, exploration and integration of adopted identity, or the ways these things can show up in love, work and play. She has performed research about the experiences of adopted adults and the struggles lesbian couples encounter in attempting to conceive. Over the last 4+years, Jill has served hundreds of children and adults living in foster, adopted, kinship and other family configurations as a clinical social worker in a community mental health clinic setting in New York City.

Her ongoing, advanced trauma training includes EMDR in the treatment of acute and complex trauma, performance issues and attachment deficits; she integrates somatic therapies, such as Focusing, as well as relational, psychodynamic, CBT, creative arts and psychospiritual exploration. As an adopted person who has experienced infertility and pregnancy loss, and is in the process of adopting, Jill brings an authentic sensitivity, respect  and understanding to each client encounter.
