Biography

Pavna K. Brahma, MD, joined Reproductive Biology Associates in the fall of 2010 after completing her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Emory University.

Originally from Michigan, Dr. Brahma earned her undergraduate degree in Biopsychology and Cognitive Science at the University of Michigan.  She then received her medical degree from The University of Michigan Medical School where she earned the J. Robert Willson award for excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology.  Motivated by her interest in reproductive medicine and women’s health, she completed her four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan Hospitals.  During residency, she developed strong clinical and research interests in polycystic ovary syndrome, endocrine pathways, and ovarian aging.  Her sincere desire to help couples achieve their dreams of parenthood motivated Dr. Brahma to pursue a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

 Dr. Brahma moved to Atlanta to complete her three-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Emory University.  During fellowship, she received excellent clinical training in in-vitro fertilization, minimally invasive surgery, and endocrine disorders.

Peggy Orlin, MS, MFT is a Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in the emotional aspects of infertility, third party family building, and adoption. She has been a therapist for 24 years, a counselor to those experiencing infertility for 15 years and has been affiliated with Pacific Fertility Center for the past 10 years.

A native of Buffalo, New York, Ms. Orlin received a master’s degree from Hofstra University. She moved to the Bay Area in 1978 where she completed her postgraduate training at the Family Therapy Center in San Francisco and at the Marin Psychotherapy Institute.

Her personal history of infertility led her to sub specialize in infertility counseling. At Pacific Fertility Center, she has co-led stress reduction classes for patients and co-ordinates discussions for staff on ethical issues in reproductive medicine. Her involvement with third party family building includes psychological screening of all involved - donors, recipients and gestational surrogates.

Ms. Orlin’s professional associations include the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, where she is immediate Past Chair of the Executive Committee of the Mental Health Professional Group, and RESOLVE, the national infertility organization, where she is a member of their Mental Health Advisory Board. She regularly speaks at conferences on infertility.

She maintains an interest in disclosure and attachment issues that affect individuals and their children involved with ART and adopted children. In addition to her infertility counseling, Ms. Orlin enjoys working with couples, adults dealing with grief and loss, and those coping with anxiety and relationship problems.

In line with her long history of including stress reduction as an adjunct to her fertility counseling, Ms. Orlin has received Mind/Body Teacher Training with Alice Domar, PhD. (Dr. Alice Domar, is a pioneer in the development of mind/body programs for infertility.) She is co-teacher of Mind/Body@PFC Weekend Workshop.

Dr. Chenette obtained his medical degree from Indiana University Medical School in 1983. After completing residency training at Magee-Women’s Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh in 1987, Dr. Chenette completed fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Southern California (USC) in 1989.

After fellowship, he was appointed to the teaching faculty at Northwestern University in Chicago and started the prestigious and successful IVF program at Northwestern. The University of California San Francisco (UCSF) appointed Dr. Chenette in 2010 to Assistant Clinical Professor with the Volunteer Clinical Faculty (VCF) in Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences. Dr. Chenette is a member of the International Society for Stem Cell Research.

Biography

Dr. McNamee is an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Hawaii School of Medicine, with 37 years of infertility experience including microsurgery, laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, laser surgery, ultrasound and pelviscopy.

He obtained his B.S. Degree at Northwestern University and his M.D. Degree at the Stanford University School of Medicine.  He has served on the board of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology, where he has previously served as vice-president and president.  His writings are widely published and he is a respected lecturer at national and international conferences on reproductive medicine.
