Dr. William Gibbons is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and reproductive medicine and infertility. He specializes in reproductive endocrinology and infertility. A nationally renowned physician, Dr. Gibbons has been on the list of Best Doctors in America for more than 15 years.

Dr. Gibbons earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. His training includes an internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Affiliated Hospitals in Houston. Dr. Gibbons also completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at BCM. After postdoctoral work, Dr. Gibbons joined the faculty of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where, with two other physicians, he launched the second successful in vitro fertilization (IVF) program in the United States. Dr. Gibbons returned to Baylor College of Medicine to direct the College's reproductive medicine fellowship and IVF program. He later became director of BCM's division of Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Gibbons transition to the position of chair of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) in Norfolk, an institution that produced the first IVF child in America. At EVMS, Dr. Gibbons directed the school's pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) team, which was one of the first PGD units in the world. He is a past President of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and before that, President of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology. Dr. Gibbons returns to Baylor College of Medicine to devote more time to patient care, research and the evolution of assisted reproduction. He is the Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and Director of the Fellowship Program in Reproductive Endocrinology and Chief of Reproductive Medicine at the Pavilion for Women. Dr. Gibbons is an active member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and The American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society as well as all primary medical societies related to Reproductive Medicine and Infertility.

Biography

Dr. Hummel received his medical education at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston and performed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Stanford University Medical Center. He completed his Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

He is a member of the Society of Reproductive Surgeons, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, the Fertility Society of Australia and numerous other local national and international organizations. Dr. Hummel frequently contributes to both national and international infertility and IVF publications.

Biography

Dr. Meyer attended Washington and Lee University and received his M.D from the University of Virginia .  He completed an OB/GYN residency at Emory University, then went to Yale University where he completed a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.  He is board certified/recertified in both OB/GYN and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

He has been a board examiner for those sitting for their OB/GYN certification.  He has been voted, by his peers, as one of the “Best Doctors in America” from 2003-2013.  He served for several years on the credentialing committee of the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technologies (SART)-the only national standard database for reproductive medicine practitioners.

Before co-founding Carolina Conceptions in 2006, he served as clinical director of the University of North Carolina’s IVF Program.  He was on Faculty at UNC for 13 years.  He founded and headed the UNC Assisted Reproductive Technologies Ethics Committee.  He has a special interest and clinical expertise in:  in vitro fertilization (IVF), egg freezing, ovulation induction, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and hysteroscopy. Dr. Meyer was President of the North Carolina Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (2011-2012).

Dr. Meyer has 3 sons; who attended Missouri, Duke, and Notre Dame. His wife is a pediatric oncology nurse at UNC-Chapel Hill.  Dr. Meyer plays tennis and is involved with Master’s swimming.
