Biography

Karyn Rosenberg is licensed by the state of Florida as a Clinical Social Worker.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from The University of Texas.

Karyn has extensive experience in general psychotherapy, but she is most specialized in grief, loss, and fertility counseling. She works in the field of third party reproduction, offering consultation, mental health screenings and evaluations, and counseling with egg donors, surrogates, and Intended Parents (IP).  She has worked a great deal in the area of post partum depression.

She has a private practice in Boca Raton, FL where she provides psychotherapy and hypnotherapy to children, teens, adults and couples. 

Karyn has been an adjunct professor at Florida Atlantic University where she has taught grief and bereavement counseling, Issues in Counseling Women, and Issues in Mental Health Counseling on a graduate and undergraduate level. 

She has served as expert witness on grief and loss issues.  Karyn has been an invited speaker at professional conferences, and serves as a lecturer and trainer for the community. 

Her professional membership includes the Florida Society of Oncology Social Workers, Association of Death Education and Counseling, The American Society for Reproductive Medicine, American Fertility Association, Resolve, National Association of Social Workers, and Florida Society for Clinical Hypnosis. Karyn served as treasurer, and past president of the Social Work/Mental Health Professional Council of Hadassah; and received the 2005 National Leadership Award, and past recipient of the Woman of Valor in 2004. 

She currently serves on the board of trustees of her Synagogue.  Karyn is happily married to her husband, and they are raising two beautiful daughters and their dog, Spike.

Dr. Katherine Ellis-Hernandez is a clinical and reproductive health psychologist.  She provides therapeutic and consultative services to children, adults, couples and families.  Her specialties include family building, cognitive behavioral therapy, sexual and reproductive health education, and play therapy.

She provides consultation to families creating families via third-party reproduction, adoption, and embryo donation.  She works with the offspring created via family building to explore issues surrounding disclosure and origins. In addition, Dr. Hernandez administers psychological assessments to gamete donors and gestational carriers.  She provides consultation and support to families across the US.  Her private practice is located in an integrative wellness center in San Diego where she sees clients for therapeutic services, groups and psychoeducational seminars.

Lauryn was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and graduated from Louisiana State University. She then went on to achieve a successful career in sales and marketing until she was diagnosed with primary infertility at the age of 35. With mid life worries, career burnout and the 3 year struggle to achieve a successful pregnancy she began searching for an alternate purpose for her life.

After much soul searching, she quit her job, started infertility treatments and enrolled in Nova Southeastern University in the Marriage and Family Therapy Master's Program and the Medical Family Therapy Certificate Program respectively. She graduated with her Master's in the summer of 2006 but during her stint in the program she took on a real passion for helping other women and couples who have or are struggling with infertility. This includes struggles for conception, miscarriage, donor egg and donor egg recipient patients, as well as donor sperm and donor sperm recipient patients. She works with relationships, communication and sexual issues surrounding infertility as well as the stress related to infertility medical protocol. She also works with transition to motherhood through live birth, adoption and high risk pregnancies as well as premature births and grief.

She is currently obtaining her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy at Nova Southeastern University and expanding her business where she strives to bridge the gap between therapeutic and medical worlds through education of patients, staff and doctors about the benefits of stress reduction around medical treatments to promote the best possible outcome.
