The American Fertility Association to Recognize Media’s Roll in Fertility Awareness

The American Fertility Association to Recognize Media’s Roll in Fertility Awareness

Event on November 10th in New York City to Bring Renewed Attention

The American Fertility Association (The AFA), a 501 (c) (3) national non-profit organization, will recognize the media’s role in family building and infertility. Illuminations – an event celebrating the accomplishments of individuals and organizations who have made a positive impact in the fields of reproductive health, family building and fertility, is coming to New York City.

The AFA’s mission is to advocate for, educate and support all hopeful parents through an extensive online library and creative education outreach events across the United States. Illuminations NYC will take place November 10th at Midtown Loft and Terrace, 267 Fifth Avenue, in Manhattan.  This fundraising benefit is an annual event in Los Angeles, and has also taken place in San Francisco and Atlanta.

Illuminations NYC will honor the book, “A Baby at Last!”, authored by Dr. Zev Rosenwaks, Dr. Marc Goldstein and Mark L. Fuerst. The publication is an educational resource tool for hopeful parents.

    Illuminations NYC
will also honor the documentary, “In America: Gary and Tony Have a Baby”, hosted by CNN’s Soledad O’Brien, who tells the story of a gay couple’s journey towards creating their family. This award reflects The AFA’s commitment to family building for all people, including the LGBT community. Actress and AFA Spokesperson Brenda Strong will host the award show.

Cast members from the Broadway hit musical “In the Heights” will perform during the show, making this a uniquely New York City event.

Executive Director Ken Mosesian says that “the evening will be a tribute to those who are working to help everyone who wants a family realize their dreams. All who share the family-building goals of The AFA are welcome and encouraged to attend.”

The event begins at 6:00pm with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, and the awards presentation follows at 7:30pm.  All proceeds raised at Illuminations NYC will benefit the work of The AFA by supporting the organization’s efforts in preventing infertility, helping those trying to conceive and trying to adopt, enhancing male reproductive health, and LGBT family building.

All media are invited to attend.  Contact the Director of Communications to be added to the media guest list.
