The Swish of The Hips….

November 8, 2007 - Thursday

So..just when I think that I have read everything about fertility...even I get surprised....and reminded that basically we humans are sometimes just dressed up animals!

According to a recent study...women put out several biological and unconscious signs of our readiness to breed!

According to a Queen’s University, Ontario, team who examined women’s walks and the levels of sex hormones in their saliva.

And what they found was that the women who had the most swish in their hips...the sexiest walks were the furthest away from ovulation.

Now...this was featured in New Science Magazine...and it was said by the researchers that this finding supported the idea women disguise their fertility to confuse unsuitable partners.

And apparently women are as confusing as many men say they are!!! You would think that we would swish our hips when we are close to ovulation...to attract men....but no....why would we do that? That would be so clear....

Instead...apparently women operate from a sense of defensiveness...(gee..why would we do that?) and we do not display the swish of the hips when we are at peak fertility...those are the times that women are defensive...protective of our sexuality.

But when we are not close to ovulation...that is when we look to attract males...perhaps to interview them for the job of fertilization! It pays to plan ahead!

“Meghan Provost, lead researcher on the study said that women who were the most fertile at the time of the experiment walked with fewer hip movements and with their knees closer together.

She now thinks the findings tally with other research suggesting that women want to conceal their ovulation from males other than their chosen partner”.

“Women are thought to use changes in smell and facial expressions that can be experienced only at close range”.

Apparently according to Ms Provost said: “If women are trying to protect themselves from sexual assault at times of peak fertility, it would make sense for them to advertise attractiveness on a broad scale when they are not fertile.”

Dr John Manning, from the University of Central Lancashire, agreed with this theory.

He said “It was in a woman’s best interests to form a closer attachment to one man to help raise children, rather than to advertise her fertile time and be approached by a larger number of competing males”. He said: “I think that the subtle signs of ovulation are used, in a sense, to promote monogamy.

“If you want to pick up on these, you have to be already living with, or close to, the woman, so this constrains the man into daily attendance on a woman.”

So...you learn something new everyday!!! The next time I am walking down the street...I am going to pay attention to my own swish of my hips!!!!

Have a great weekend!
Pamela
