alisaholistic sounds great
alisaholistic thanks again Deb for having me, i am so happy to be "here" virtually
alisaholistic and thank all of you ladies in my virtual audience tonight
alisaholistic i'm so thrilled to have the opportunity to share this information with you
deb_capone We are happy to have you-and our audience-'here' as well.
alisaholistic So, let me first start with what my intention is for you tonight
alisaholistic i'd like to have each of you understand a few key points
alisaholistic by the end of our conversation
  sunnynanc joined .
  bombcat9 joined .
  Beth26 joined .
alisaholistic first, i want to investigate with you how medication can interfere with your body's natural processes and how to look at using food as medicine can repair your reproductive and hormonal balance
deb_capone Welcome Sunnynanc and bombcat 9 and Beth Our guest tonight is Alisa Vitti, Founder and Director Laughing Sage Wellness Group. Alisa is a Women's Holistic Health Counselor, a certified Nutrition and lifestyle coach. She created this practice after suffering with the symptoms of PCOS and healing herself through food and lifestyle changes. She specializes in the areas of reproductive and hormonal health.
alisaholistic sound good?
  khugar joined .
bkyhie yes
alisaholistic nod your heads if you are up for that
alisaholistic great! thanks!
alisaholistic my second goal for you this evening
alisaholistic is to have you understand what top 10 foods you can begin eating right away to restore your balance
alisaholistic and finally, i want you to understand the 3 underlying causes of your hormonal issues and how the work that we do here at Laughing Sage Wellness (LSW) can address those underlying causes
alisaholistic okay?
  debi joined .
alisaholistic all i have is one request
alisaholistic i need your participation!!
bkyhie you have mine
alisaholistic this is going to be a very interactive call
alisaholistic thank you bkyhie
Daisy615 sounds good!
alisaholistic great!
bombcat9 i'm ready!
alisaholistic we are going to have plenty of opportunity to address your specific questions and thoughts
Beth26 sounds great!
alisaholistic so get ready with those
alisaholistic but first i have a question for all of you
alisaholistic i want to understand what your experiences have been in dealing with hormonal issues and medication
  khugar left .
alisaholistic so let's have a few people share what their experience has been and what particular issue they are struggling with
alisaholistic who'd like to go first?
  liz joined .
bkyhie I ovulate normally and have no known horomonal imbalance issues with the exception of mild endo. i have been thru 3 IVFs, one resulted in a chemical and one in a pregnancy with miscarriage at 9 weeks. I have been told that my eggs are rotten pretty much at 38 years
alisaholistic thank you for sharing bkyhie
bkyhie I don't buy that, so trying naturally without medication
alisaholistic and i'm SO sorry that you have had to go through all of that emotional stress
alisaholistic how did all of the medication affect your body?
bkyhie bloated, and overall not good
debi I have POF and will have to go the donor route. Now I'm told that my lining is too thin and may have to adopt. I'm trying one last time with med's and acupuncture to increase blood flow to my uterius. What else can I do? I do not get a period w/o being chemically induced. I an 39.
sunnynanc What are the 10 top foods you recommend eating
alisaholistic okay great ladies
Beth26 Diagnosed w/ PCOS ~6 years ago and my RE has me on 2500mgs of Metformin ER. Most of the time I only take 2000mgs b/c I hate taking that much! I am currently waiting to do a 2nd round of IVF.
alisaholistic let me set up a little protocal
alisaholistic i'm going to answer all of your questions at the same time
alisaholistic and sunnynanc, i'll get to that list in a little bit
alisaholistic so hang in there
alisaholistic first of all, thank you to bkyhie, debi and beth26 for sharing
alisaholistic and for those of you who haven't written, it's okay
  Alia25 joined .
alisaholistic your story is similar in the high level details
alisaholistic meaning, that what these women have gone through, you have in some way gone through
alisaholistic and so the explanation will be helpful and applicable to you all
alisaholistic so here's my tid bit on the first goal of the evening
  smiley joined .
alisaholistic when your body is in a state of deficiency, which we can assume that it is, given that you have difficulty with conception and some pre-existing hormonal imbalance like PCOS, endo, fibroids, severe pms, etc
guest99 I dont have PCOS I just have the problem of Advanced maternal age>>>i am under the care of a DOM and on a high protein with veggies and no sugar, caffeein, ice or cold drinks.....what do you suggest for someone like me?
  YOLA joined .
Daisy615 I was diagnosed with severe endo after a laporotomy to remove a large endometrial cyst a year ago and then completed 6 months of Lupron and we are trying again naturally.
alisaholistic and by state of deficiency i mean that your body has one important goal in life
alisaholistic to keep you alive and healthy
Alia25 Good night everyone. How DO you have a health, natural, effortless menstrual period and Drug-Free Fertility
alisaholistic reproductive capacity and libido, ladies, are the first things to go when you are not living and eating optimally for your body
alisaholistic so i want you to have a paradigm shift here
alisaholistic i want you to look at restoring your base line overall health as THE means to bringing back your libido and reproductive capacity
  bkyhie left .
alisaholistic my second important point here
alisaholistic is the following
alisaholistic when you take medications, you compromise your liver's ability to do it's very important job
alisaholistic left uninterrupted, your liver would spend from 3pm to 3am, cleaning out 20% of your total blood volume at a time
alisaholistic "tagging" with biomarkers, your SEX and STRESS hormones for elimination
alisaholistic sex hormones: estrogen, progesterone, etc
alisaholistic stress hormones: adrenaline and cortisol
alisaholistic now these hormones in and of themselves are toxic to the body in high volumes, so the liver sets aside 12 HOURS to make sure you start off each day with a clean slate so to speak
liz Wow
alisaholistic however, when we consider what happens when we expose the body to medications
alisaholistic we then run into some challenges
alisaholistic for those of you who are sensitive hormonally
alisaholistic yes, Liz, WOW is right, the liver is pretty amazing
guest99 what does sensitive hormorally mean?
alisaholistic it's a good thing to be in awe of your body;)
alisaholistic meaning that you already have a history of some hormonal imbalance
alisaholistic like the ones i mentioned above
alisaholistic so, let me give some examples
debi I don't follow. Does that mean my body stopped making estrogen because of what I did or didn't eat?
liz Yeap I do I have PCOS with severe IR
alisaholistic so you really see the picture here
alisaholistic debi, great question, no, not at all
  deedee joined .
alisaholistic what i am talking about is how medication can interrupt your hormonal balance
alisaholistic so as i was mentioning
alisaholistic a basic example is this
debi so being on the pill for an extended amt of time can make this happen?
plumleedw What kinds of meds are you referring to?
Alia25 ok, so what do you suggest we do about that? How do we not take meds to help our situation? How do we do it where INSURANCE pays for it???
smiley certain medications or any medication?
alisaholistic let's say, you live in an urban environment, you take advil for cramps, you take the flu shot, you take antibiotics, you take allergy medication, you drink coffee
liz Yeah really alia
guest99 are u referring to Follistism?
alisaholistic i'm getting there ladies
guest99 sorry
alisaholistic and believe me, I appreciate your situation
liz sorry
alisaholistic no apologies necessary!
  ilenec joined .
Alia25 I think a whole lotta people would preffer the wholistic approach to taking care of our bodies, but it is simply not accessible
alisaholistic i have dedicated my work to this group of women exactly because you are all left feeling soo frustrated
liz yeap
alisaholistic as i was years ago when i had PCOS
alisaholistic which i healed using my methods
alisaholistic anyway, back to the story
alisaholistic as we only have a limited time!
alisaholistic and i want to get to everything i possibly can for you
  mangoeater joined .
Alia25 ok
alisaholistic and YES alia25, this NEEDS to be accessible to more women
alisaholistic that's what i'm trying to do at LSW
alisaholistic so thanks for the vote;)
alisaholistic okay, so you take all these meds
alisaholistic you take claritin D
alisaholistic you take things, AND you live in a polluted environment, AND you take in
alisaholistic hormones and pesticides from commercially (non-organic) grown foods and animal products
alisaholistic AND you drink coffee, alcohol, etc
alisaholistic which i'm sure many of you do not do, given that you are trying to conceive
alisaholistic however, these things alone, not including the medications you may have been put on to treat your actual condition - from lupron, to metformin, to clomid
alisaholistic are considered to be so toxic in such smaller quantity to your body, than the hormones that you naturally produce
alisaholistic that guess what
alisaholistic your liver has to make a choice
alisaholistic it only has 12 HOURS to detox your blood system
alisaholistic and so, given the LOAD of chemicals present, the liver UN-tags your hormones
alisaholistic allowing them to recirculate back into your body
alisaholistic doubling or trebling the amount normally intended to be there
alisaholistic and focuses on trying to detox you from the chemicals, medications, pesticides, etc
alisaholistic everyone with me so far??
liz Yeap
guest99 yes
bombcat9 yup
Daisy615 yup
Alia25 yeah
alisaholistic GREAT
chrisrn05 yes
deedee yes
karynmacvean yes and now it makes sense...
alisaholistic this is why i love working with women
ahchealth7800 yes
liz Yeap it does to me to
alisaholistic you are SOOOO smart!
alisaholistic super, okay
liz LMAO
  jsaracen joined .
alisaholistic so let me give you a bit more
liz dont tell our husbands that
liz lol
alisaholistic biology 101 here
alisaholistic TELL THEM!!!!
Alia25 We sure are
liz lol
Alia25 ::biggrin
alisaholistic anyhoo, so how many of you think you get enough fiber every day??
guest99 definietly
debi i think so
bombcat9 probably not me
Alia25 I do not at all
deedee not sure?
Daisy615 i doubt i do
alisaholistic i would say, that most of you are accurately reflecting what is a HUGE problem for you hormonally
karynmacvean not sure...
Alia25 ..not nearly enough...
liz I take fiber pills
liz does that help?
alisaholistic nope
smiley over the limits!
guest99 its gross, but u can tell your excrement, right?
alisaholistic looking at your bowel movements daily is an EXCELLENT way to self diagnose your level of wellness
alisaholistic but that is a different call;)
alisaholistic okay, so here's what happens
deedee what should it look like?
guest99 todl u it was gross! LOL
alisaholistic remember back before all the medications and pesticides
alisaholistic in the liver's very own garden of eden??
alisaholistic what happens ideally, is that whatever sex and stress hormones your body has produced
liz honestly no, I have always had health problems
alisaholistic and your liver has tagged for elimination
alisaholistic will pass into the large intestine from the liver
alisaholistic and seek to bind with MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF INSOLUBLE FIBER
alisaholistic in order for you to physically excrete these hormones
alisaholistic you actually have to work a bit to help your liver complete its detox process, if you will
alisaholistic now, i put that in bold
guest99 deedeeto answer ur question ..hope no one minds....a long S
alisaholistic b/c i KNOW that you are not getting enough fiber
  sherilm joined .
alisaholistic and it's really important to begin to do that
alisaholistic so that you can combat the already compromised function of the liver given what external toxins it is being exposed to
alisaholistic and my top 10 foods list will get you started with that
alisaholistic but i want you to know the WHY behind the WHAT
alisaholistic okay??
guest99 YES
karynmacvean k
Alia25 ok
alisaholistic great
deedee Thanks GUEST 99, for the details
bombcat9 k
alisaholistic so here's the other thing about medications
guest99 sure
jsaracen What about acupuncture?
alisaholistic accupuncture is great
alisaholistic if it works for you
alisaholistic but i still maintain that the MOST POWERFUL DRUG to alter your genetics
alisaholistic is FOOD
alisaholistic and food alone
debi anyhting is great if it works - what do u suggest
alisaholistic so here's the other thing that happens when we take medications as women that are directed at manipulating our hormones
  sherilm left .
alisaholistic we've talked about how it impacts your self cleansing process
alisaholistic but i also want you to know that it interferes with your pituitary function
jsaracen Do you believe in limiting dairy products?
alisaholistic and this is significant not only because your pituitary is your master gland when it comes to ovulation
plumleedw I've read a lot lately about soy adversely affecting fertility. What are your thoughts about that? Is it any soy, or just certain types. It seems like everything I pick up has soy lecithin in it.
alisaholistic but also because your pituitary glad is the seat of your intuition
alisaholistic let me get to specific food questions in a minute
  jsaracen left .
alisaholistic and your tuning in to your intuitive sense can really hasten the healing process as this will allow you to listen to what your body needs specifically
alisaholistic SO
alisaholistic what foods do i recommend for you
alisaholistic to get started with
alisaholistic here's the list, please take some notes for yourself
bombcat9 alright
alisaholistic first, start with some teas
  kconnaghan joined .
alisaholistic red clover, raspberry leaf, nettle, chamomile and lavender
ilenec Are there any specific superfoods that can raise FSH levels?
alisaholistic these are plants that can help your liver and gallbladder function more efficiently
mangoeater or LOWER FSH levels?
guest99 RAISE FSH?
alisaholistic great question ilenec
ilenec Oh-sorry no sleep last night....lower FSH!!!! Thanks!!!
guest99 oooooooooooooooooo
  Karyen joined .
alisaholistic what's important to remember is that you must break out of the western medical mindset
alisaholistic which is what your question is modeled on
alisaholistic what do i take to do X
alisaholistic what you need to start looking at is, how can i address the underlying causes of my hormonal issues and eat for that
alisaholistic so each of you has issues with blood sugar
alisaholistic and liver function
debi pls continue with the list
alisaholistic which is why i wanted to explain it a bit
deedee yes more from the good list ...
alisaholistic okay, back to the list
guest99 i dont with blood surgar?
ilenec sounds great! she's doing an excellent job!!
guest99 everyone does?
karynmacvean I'm allergic to sugar
karynmacvean and diary
alisaholistic the second food that i'd recommend you incorporate immediately is a good EFA oil - like flax oil or something like UDO's choice
karynmacvean right - that'st dairy
alisaholistic flax oil is NOT dairy
smiley are ground up flax seeds just as good as the oil?
deedee How about flax seed capsules?
karynmacvean sorry spelling correction and bad timing
alisaholistic okay, this is important because it gives your body the ability to mitigate the effects of stress on your hormonal balance, as well as provide you with anti-inflammatory building blocks
guest99 how about Evening Primrose Oil capsultes
ilenec I read literature saying that the conversation of EFA is not as good in flax as in fish
alisaholistic ground up flax seeds are great for the FIBER content
alisaholistic but i would do the oil for the Omega-3's and 6's
guest99 what about the mercury in the FISH????
alisaholistic Eve Prim Oil is also good
smiley thanks
alisaholistic exactly, i do not advocate fish oil anymore due to the high levels of oceanic pollution
guest99 so dont eat fish?
ilenec Do you take evening Primrose as a tea?
alisaholistic i really like Udo's choice, as they blend many oils, improving your chances of bioavailability
guest99 i take in capsule form if ur asking me
alisaholistic guest99, you can eat certain fish
alisaholistic i would take this drizzled on cool or cold foods
guest99 salamon
ilenec What about buying Organic fish...they cell organic salmon...and also I'm aware that sardines are high in Omega 3 and low in mercury
guest99 sp...sory
bombcat9 I have never heard of UDO's choice. Where do you get that? Like a GNC store?
alisaholistic me personall, i put a few TB's in my tub of hummous and snack on that
guest99 what is UDO?
alisaholistic b/c it's already in there
alisaholistic UDO is a brand name
alisaholistic you would not find it at GNC most likely
guest99 TB's?
alisaholistic okay, next item
smiley Barlean's is good too
alisaholistic WATER, WATER, WATER!!!!!
guest99 do u advocate chinese herbs?
alisaholistic i cannot emphasize enough ladies, how much consistent long term dehydration
ilenec Thanks for the above question
alisaholistic messes with your hormonal issues
karynmacvean really?
guest99 8 glasses a day?
ilenec Wow!!
alisaholistic no, more
alisaholistic much more
alisaholistic here's a basic water schedule
alisaholistic i'd recommend you try following
ilenec You can improve your fertility status by staying well hydrated??
alisaholistic 8oz of H2O, upon waking
liz is it true if you drink to much water you will depleate your body of vitamins it needs?
alisaholistic 16 oz by noon
alisaholistic (NO)
alisaholistic 16 oz by 3pm
Beth26 I was at a seminar and the speaker said half of your weight in oz. per day or more
alisaholistic 16 oz by 6pm
alisaholistic 16 oz by 9pm
alisaholistic see if you can keep that up for a few weeks
alisaholistic and tell me how you are doing
alisaholistic think of it as an experiment
alisaholistic and don't take my word for it, check it out for yourself
bombcat9 k, definitely will try
alisaholistic ok, next item
ilenec Thanks!
alisaholistic yellow root veggies
alisaholistic sweet potatoes, squashes, carrots, onions, leeks,
alisaholistic turnips, parsnips, etc
alisaholistic these foods HEAL pancreatic function naturally
alisaholistic and help maintain proper blood glucose levels throughout the day
Alia25 ok
guest99 ok
  jjin joined .
ilenec they are high in soluble fiber
alisaholistic and they are GREAT comfort foods especially during the luteal phase when we tend to crave more carbohydrate based foods
alisaholistic they are relatively high in fiber ilenec
liz ok
alisaholistic but not as great as the next item
ilenec Have you heard of a berry called Acai?? It is supposed to have Omega 3 fats and super high in antioxidants...
karynmacvean would it be helpful to someone who has progesterone issues?
alisaholistic which is DARK LEAFY GREEN VEGGIES
Beth26 Is it bad to eat only one of those foods?
Beth26 Out of all of those I only like carrots
alisaholistic now, i am sad to report that salad DOES NOT COUNT
bombcat9 interesting, keep going
alisaholistic (it's okay if you only like carrots)
Beth26 THANKS!
ilenec I make my salads with kale, collard greens and avocado
alisaholistic you must explore the world of kale, collards, mustard greens, chards, mizuna, arugula
alisaholistic cabbage
ilenec Yes!
alisaholistic great ilenec, that is not the typical salad we see
alisaholistic as we all know from the salad bar;)
ilenec So healthy -want to make sure I get the folic acid and nutrients, etc
alisaholistic so, please explore these veggies not only for their crucial vitamins and minerals
alisaholistic but specifically b/c they help in that second phase of liver detoxing
alisaholistic and they are a GREAT source of insoluble fiber
alisaholistic okay, next item,
debi what's next on the list
alisaholistic WHOLE GRAINS
alisaholistic brown rice, millet, quinoa, buckwheat, barley
alisaholistic etc
alisaholistic this foods have b vitamins needed as the building blocks for serotonin production
alisaholistic and also they have tons of insoluble fiber
alisaholistic the next item on the list is CHOCOLATE
liz yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
bombcat9 yay!
liz lol
Alia25 WHAT!!!!!!!
Beth26 YEAH!!!!!
Daisy615 SWEET
ilenec really????
alisaholistic chocolate has an amazing antioxidant load
Alia25 don't play with me

I want to take a minute to thank Alisa for her time and expertise and to remind everyone that we start and end the sessions on time. We have only a few minutes left.
guest99 what about the sugar problem
alisaholistic provides you with trace minerals like magnesium
alisaholistic great quesiton
ilenec would you recommend organic chocolate though?
alisaholistic DO NOT EAT HERSHEY"s etc
alisaholistic full of sugar
alisaholistic also, NO milk chocolate
alisaholistic organic dark chocolate
alisaholistic is GOOD FOR YOU
ilenec Thanks so much....can't wait to go buy
alisaholistic okay, ladies, i just want to say one last thing
