Hi,
Wondering if anyone has the answer to this… our surrogate just had her pap done and they found cervical cancwr cells. The will do a Leep Procedure on Monday…. is there a higher risk for preterm labor….i read an article from 2005 that indicated that there was a higher risk yet it has been a few years. Any latest statistics….
Dear Mina:
Just one Leep procedure does not seem to significantly increase the risk for preterm birth. However, 2 leeps or more does seem to be associated with an increased risk. It may be reasonable to ask the obstetrician to monitor cervical length by sonogram on your surrogate during pregnancy as a precaution. Usually this test is easy to arrange, non-invasive and can be very helpful.
Very best of luck to you.
