Hi, I posted a question last week & haven’t received a reply. It was regarding the most effective timing for fertility massage for someone who has endometriosis & is about to undergo invitro implantation. Anyone?????

Dear Ariana,
I performed an extensive literature review and could find no data regarding the timing of massage in fertility treatment. As such, I think a more conservative and common sense approach is appropriate. If the patient finds relaxation and stress relief in massage, then it is very reasonable to continue this during her preparpation phase for her cycle. Because we expect progressive ovarian enlargement due to follicular development after the patient begins stimulation, it would be best to avoid the abdominal/pelvic areas once stimulation has begun; this may seem quite conservative, but again in the absence of data, the goal is to do no (potential) harm by rupturing a follicle or torsing the ovary with aggressive manipulation.
