Ok so to make a long story short ( or as short as I can) I am 37 years old and my husband is 35.  We have been TTC for almost 3 years and have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility.  I had one chemical pregnancy 2 years ago and then 3 rounds of clomid with IUI and one round of injecables with IUI…. all unsuccessful.  After all Of that I got pregnant all on my own ( well with the help of my hubby and a vacation) and it ended in a miscarriage at 15 weeks( they don’t know why).  I had a fibroid and have since had it removed ( this all happened in the past 15 months, the miscarriage and myomectomy)  I am now trying to figure out what to do next.  Our insurance does not cover fertility treatment and we are not wealthy folks so I am trying to get a bit of advice.  I ovulate monthly and have regular cycles but it isn’t happening for us….... any suggestions???  I really want to have a baby and it all seems so difficult for us.  We have not ruled out IVF but want to make sure we have exhausted all other options as this process is very expensive.  Also there are so many options even with IVF.  All of this is scary and overwhelming….........

Dear Just Trying,
I’m sorry for your loss.  It sounds like you have been through quite alot, multiple cycles, a miscarriage, surgery, etc.  It would be helpful to have a more complete medical history and records before making a recommendation, because details regarding your past injectable IUI cycle, as well as the 15wk miscarriage are important to review.  IVF may be a very good option, although expensive, this often offers the highest success rates at most programs.  I recommend you consult with a Reproductive Endocrinologist to review your history, discuss treatment options, and financial impact of these options.
Best Regards,
