Dear AFA, this is my first IVF cycle and the embryo quality was poor (marked on 1-4, with 1 being the best, the two embryos were 3 and 4). Can you tell me, could another cycle of IVF produce better quality embryos? I’m 42 and had an ectopic last year.

It is possible that with a change in your stimulation protocol, or possibly even another stimulation, your embryo quality may be altered somewhat, but I would not anticipate a marked difference.  I recommend reviewing your stimulation cycle and embryology records with your RE, and discussing “next step” options.
